Hear My Sign Graduates Step Into the Industry

The journey towards a more inclusive South African creative industry continues as Africa Television Market (ATM) celebrates the successful graduation of learners from its pioneering Hear My Sign programme.

The graduation ceremony, held at Thekwini TVET College as part of Human Rights Month commemorations, marked an important milestone for the programme, bringing together both hearing and hearing-impaired learners who successfully completed an NQF Level 5 qualification in Film and Television Production.

MILESTONE ACHIEVEMENT
“Where talent knows no barriers — celebrating an NQF Level 5 accredited milestone in South African creative production.”

From the Classroom to the Creative World

What makes Hear My Sign particularly impactful is its focus on practical, industry-based learning. Learners were exposed to different stages of the production process, including scriptwriting, content development, post-production and distribution, while also gaining experience in real-world working environments.

This approach allowed participants to develop not only technical knowledge, but also the practical skills and confidence needed to navigate and succeed across the South African and global film and television landscape.
